As Germany celebrates 1700 years of Jewish life, Die nächsten 1700 Jahre: Queer Jewish Futures seeks to look ahead, moving away from tropes of antisemitism and memory culture, towards a reimagined queer, Jewish future.
Through a series of Instagram Live conversations, 2021QJF engages in critical and overdue conversations with queer and Jewish artists, activists, writers, and magic makers throughout Germany and across the diaspora.
Cleo Kempe Towers aka emotional labor queen
Launching the first of the series, Cleo Kempe Towers (they/them) in conversation with Tamara Loewenstein (she/her) will dive into their experiences as diasporic queer Jews living in Germany. Drawing on Towers’ artist practice and beloved podcast series Emotional Labor Queen, they will explore the intersections between astrology, diasporism, futurism, queerness and Jewish identity through the lens of femme power, solidarity and healing.
